Foreign Trek 1990 Öst Tirol

Leaders  Allan Witton, Adrian Dobson, Roger Hand, Andy Milne, Lesley Witton, Coach Driver: Dennis Hughes. The illustrated log below contains a full party list.

The Route was an almost complete circuit in the Öst Tirol, between two of Austria’s highest mountains, Großglockner and Großvenediger. We were fortunate in having glorious weather virtually all the way and so were able to stay high in the mountains and complete the whole route almost exactly as planned. The route divided into three main sections separated by valley camps in Lienz; a four-day section from the Rudolfshütte, around the western and southern flanks of Großglockner to Kals, with an ascent of Böses Weibl (3121) as a climax; a three-day section crossing the Granatspitze Group, climbing Kleine Muntanitz (3192) on the way; a six-day section (during which the main party didn’t descend below 2100 m) along the eastern flanks of the Venediger Group, with a day excursion to Wilden Kogel (3022).
