Foreign Trek 1994 Bernina Alps

Leaders:  Allan Witton, Adrian Dobson, Simon Duffy, Eric Cittanova  Coach Driver: Dennis Hughes. The illustrated log below contains a full party list.

The Route  was in two separate parts. The first section consisted of a two-day walk into the Upper Engadine from the Pass d’Alvra, with a mountain camp at Suvretta da Samedan before climbing Piz Nair (3057 m) and descending to St. Moritz, near where we set up camp for six nights at Punt Muragl. From this valley base we made three day excursions to Piz Ot (3246 m), Piz Languard (3262 m), and to Munt Pers (3207 m) and the Morterasch glacier. After a free day we had a further day walk up Val Roseg and over Fuorcla Surlej to Sils Maria.

We then transferred by coach to Bivio to begin a high level circuit of Val Bregaglia, walking in from the north with mountain camps at Pass da Sett and Val da Cam on the north side of the valley, with an ascent of Piz Cam (2634 m) before descending to Vicosoprano. The final two-day section on the south side of Val Bregaglia was a crossing of the jagged Sciora ridge from Val Bondasca to Val da l’Albigna, staying at the Sciora hut overnight.
