The Route This was our third trek in the Vanoise in 11 years, and the route was an amalgamation of the camping Trek in 1986 and the hutting Trek in 1991. It was an almost complete circuit of the Vanoise National Park, passing close to most of the major peaks and through many of the massif’s valleys, and consisted of 4 sections between valley camps.

1.. Three-days from Arc 2000 to Pralognan, along the flanks of Mont Pourri, Dôme de Bellecôte and Grand Bec, with an ascent of Aiguille Grive (2732

2. A whole-day excursion to Col de la Vanoise, followed by a three-day loop over Col d’Aussois. with ascents of Petit Mont Blanc (2677), Pointe de l’Observatoire (3015) and Rateau d’Aussois (3131), and then round the southern end of the Vanoise glacier field to Termignon.

3. A two-day, 37 km crossing through the heart of the National Park, beneath the 1500 m walls of Grande Casse and Grande Motte to Val Claret, staying overnight at the Entre Deux Eaux hut.
